The Vidin Training Centre for Food Safety
In 2007 an initiative is taken to set up a Food Safety Training Centre in Vidin in Bulgaria. The target group of this Training Centre is companies in agri food, different companies producing foods, but it goes back to the primary sector, providing the materials for the food industry (farmers). The training elements are about basic food safety issues in dairy and meat industry and in restaurants and food shops. PromSTAP partners are invited to submit input for the training programme from their experiences in the PromSTAP subprojects, either to Anja Kleijn or to Richard Langeslag.
The founding fathers are the Agricultural Training Centre AOC Oost, Veska Kovacheva ST Sofia and a local training centre. A team of international students from Wageningen University and Research Center - a so called Academic Master Cluster - and teachers from the AOC Oost developed in spring 2007 a course to be given in week 38 (September) in Vidin. A number of 20-30 participants from the food industry will attend the course. On basis of the experiences in September the course will be further developed. A student from Wageningen University and Research Center will work out a business plan for this new organization in the period September-December 2007.
Professor Jacques Trienekens and Anja Kleijn are involved in this activity and will make sure the Training Centre is connected to other Promstap initiatives and projects.
The activities were initiated by Ivo Kostov (discover Bulgaria Consultancy Network) and Joep Koene (member of the Monitoring Board of the Promstap project). Contactperson for AOC Oost is Richard Langeslag.
